A Brief History
In the mid-fifties, a wire ran from Knutti to the “campus lounge” which was in Snyder at that time.
Eventually, in 1974, through various donations, they were given 10 watts of power and a channel, 88.5.
The very first song broadcast was Blackwater by The Doobie Brothers.
The first man in charge, George Wilson, was given the station with no pay and no budget to speak of. Because of insufficient funds, the station’s channel was moved to 93.7. A couple of years later, the presiding President wanted to be able to listen to the station at Popidican one mile away so he funded the station and in 1991, they received 950 watts of power to reach all of Shepherdstown and it’s surrounding areas.

Since 2005, 89.7 has been available to all listeners around the world. You can hear live and streaming music from our speakers to yours by clicking here.
